Gretsch Chet
Atkins®
The Gretsch Chet Atkins
6120 was introduced in 1955 by the legendary producer
and guitarist Chet Atkins...
Chet Atkins played
a big role not only in putting Nashville on the
map, but also in popularizing country music with
strings and exposing it to a broader national
audience.
Even though the Gretsch
6120 would be associated as a rockabilly guitar,
it was originally built for country and western
guitarists.
This rust-coloured
guitar carried several western motives, such as
a longhorn cow logo on its headstock, cactus and
longhorn engraved on the fingerboard markers,
and a western-style "G" burnt onto the
lower body like a cattle brand.
The Gretsch company
is one of America's largest and most venerable
musical instruments manufacturers, best known
for their drums and Zildjian brand cymbals.
