Gibson L-5
The Gibson L-5 was the
first true archtop guitar, designed by Llyod Loar.
The L-5 was inspired by violin construction.
A pair of f-shaped
holes on its arched top replaced the single round
soundhole. Eventually, all future archtops were
shaped like this.
The L-5's sound was
favored by many musicians, particularly jazz and
country guitarists.
This guitar has banjo
tuning pegs on the other side of its headstock,
with a beautifully made maple neck and varnish
work.
